Having black and white stripes is the most iconic characteristic of the zebra. For me personally, zebra are black with white stripes.. Basically, black is zebra's original fur color while white  patches are simply the areas that lack pigmentation. Most of the zebra have dark skin beneath their fur. Furthermore, e mbryological evidence has shown that zebra are black with white strips because the animal background color are black and white stripes and  bellies are additions. In most of the picture that i have seen about zebra, i can see that zebra has black with white stripes.
